Sophie
Sophie’s dance journey began at the age of 3 when she joined the Katharine Mitchell School of Dance. During her time as a student, she performed in various productions, including Sleeping Beauty at the Northcott Theatre, The Pied Piper with Boy Blue Entertainment, and Giselle with the English Youth Ballet at the Torquay Princess Theatre. Sophie also participated in dance festivals and competitions. Sophie progressed through the RAD Ballet syllabus, achieving up to Advanced Foundation level, and also completed the Intermediate level in ISTD Modern Dance.
Before pursuing her professional career, Sophie taught dance at local primary school dance clubs, where she inspired young dancers and helped them develop a love for movement. In 2016, Sophie made her professional dance debut in Starstruck at Babbacombe Theatre. She then went on to complete a 3-year dance degree at the prestigious London Studio Centre, where she expanded her knowledge and developed a passion for commercial dance and fitness.
Sophie’s drive for learning took her to Los Angeles in 2018, where she trained intensively at the Millennium Dance Complex. She completed her final year at LSC in 2019, touring with the Jazz Company. Since graduating, Sophie has worked on projects with the BBC, combining music and movement, and has had various modelling opportunities. Sophie also performed a season with the Plymouth Patriot cheerleaders in 2021.
In addition to her performance career, Sophie is a qualified Personal Trainer, Alixa Flexibility certified and an Acrobatic Arts Module 1 & 2 instructor. She has also completed the Acrobatic Arts certification and workshop in aerial and back handsprings. Sophie is also undergoing teacher training with the International Dance Teachers Association (IDTA).
Sophie began teaching at the Katharine Mitchell School of Dance in 2020, where she quickly established herself as a dedicated and passionate instructor. Over the years, she has helped nurture and develop her students' dance skills, bringing her extensive experience and enthusiasm to the classroom.
In addition to her teaching, Sophie has achieved a 100% success rate in Acrobatic Arts examinations, demonstrating her commitment to excellence in both her own practice and in guiding her students towards their full potential.
Sophie is thrilled to be working alongside Gemma to offer exciting opportunities for students to grow, develop their skills, and showcase their talents. Together, they are dedicated to providing a supportive environment where students can excel, whether in recreational dance or preparing for competitive performances, and inspire them to reach their fullest potential.

Gemma
During her early years, Gemma trained at the Katharine Mitchell School of Dance, where she developed a deep passion for performance. As a pupil, she had the opportunity to perform with the English Youth Ballet at the Torquay Princess Theatre in Giselle, and participated in a variety of exciting projects such as Chance to Dance, annual Queen Elizabeth (QE) musicals, and local dance festivals, where she honed her skills and gained valuable performance experience. Gemma progressed through the RAD Ballet Syllabus, achieving up to Advanced Foundation level, and also complete the Intermediate level in ISTD Modern Dance.
At 18, Gemma's dedication to her craft led her to secure a place at the prestigious Italia Conti Academy for Performing Arts in central London. Over the course of three years, she trained intensively and earned a Diploma in Performing Arts. This experience gave her the opportunity to immerse herself in the professional world of performance.
Following her training, Gemma went on to live and work in London, where she made television appearances on ITV’s The Voice, BBC’s Children in Need, and Channel 4’s Complaints Welcome. She also earned a contract as a dancer in Cyprus, but unfortunately, the opportunity was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Since returning to Devon, Gemma has made a significant impact in the local dance community. She has worked extensively within primary and secondary schools, offering dance classes that inspire students and develop their creative expression. For the past four years, Gemma has also provided one-on-one coaching for students of the Katharine Mitchell School of Dance, preparing them for dance competitions and group performances.
In addition to her work in dance education, Gemma has spent the last two years as a TA and a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school, where she has supported children with high anxiety, autism, and ADHD. This experience has broadened her ability to work with students of diverse needs, creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all learners.
Gemma has also recently gained her Acrobatic Arts Module 1 qualification, further expanding her expertise. As a passionate choreographer, she is thrilled to be working alongside Sophie to create an innovative and competitive dance school that offers exciting opportunities for students to grow and showcase their talents.

Ballet Instructor (RAD)
Georgia
Georgia has been passionate about dance since the age of 2 and has dedicated herself to the art ever since. She trained at the renowned Katharine Mitchell School of Dance, where she developed a strong foundation in ballet and other dance forms. Over the years, she has progressed through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) syllabus, achieving up to the Advanced 1 level in RAD exams. With a deep commitment to perfecting her craft, Georgia spent the last two years specializing in RAD ballet and, in 2024, successfully qualified as a registered ballet teacher with the RAD.
Now, as a qualified instructor, Georgia is excited to carry on the legacy of the Katharine Mitchell School of Dance, where she first discovered her love for ballet. She is thrilled to share her passion for ballet with students, helping to inspire and guide them in their own dance journeys, just as she was inspired in her early years.
Beyond the studio, Georgia’s love for the performing arts extends to musical theatre. She has been an active performer with the Crediton Operatic and Dramatic Society (CODS), taking part in numerous productions. Her dedication has recently led her to a new role as choreographer for their musicals, where she brings her creative vision to life and continues to inspire others through her work.
Sophie and Gemma are excited to have Georgia on board as part of the S&G team. We are confident that Georgia’s dedication, experience, and enthusiasm will make her a fantastic addition and an invaluable mentor for the students.
