CONTEMPORARY MODERN

Contemporary Modern Jazz, as presented in the IDTA (International Dance Teachers' Association) syllabus, blends elements of classical ballet, modern dance, and jazz, offering a dynamic and expressive style that emphasises fluidity, strength, and individual expression. This form of dance encourages the exploration of movement through the use of body isolations, floor work, and strong technical foundations. Starting with basic exercises to build flexibility, balance, and coordination, the syllabus gradually introduces more complex techniques such as improvisation, dynamic use of space, and advanced choreography. Contemporary Modern Jazz dancers are taught to connect with the music, expressing emotion and storytelling through movement while developing their technical skill and performance quality.
